What's left?

I need to finish the magic section. Specifically, the sections on Summoning, Illusions and Images, and whatever other parts still need attention.

I need to write up a bestiary of some kind. At minimum, the monsters that wizards can summon, plus a few others they're likely to encounter (lions in an arena, that kind of thing).

Experience points!

Maybe a small blurb on exactly what you can do with all of these. Arena fights and dungeons, mostly.

A milestone, of sorts

All of the spells from the basic version of the original game are entered, plus a smattering from the advanced version. I don't mind admitting that I had looked at the full, large spell list from the advanced game and became discouraged, because there were so many (going all the way up to INT 20!). I decided today to look at the basic game, and lo and behold there were only a few going up to 16. So they're in.

Once I have the Bestiary, Images and Illusions, and Summoning sections created and/or fleshed out, along with some miscellaneous other edits, I will increment the release number to 0.10 and call it a playtest release.

5 skills at 13 INT left

What it says on the tin. Plus there's a few Skills here and there that are missing, and may or may not appear. Once the Skills are finished, next is the spells and armor sections, plus any sections referenced by those. Once all of that is done I'm advancing my version number from 0.01 to 0.10, and calling it a milestone. It should be fully playable at that point, even with some pretty advanced rules, entirely without the use of the original materials. Anyway, tired now.

(Oops. This originally said 14 INT, not 13. Told you I was tired.)

More stuff

I've added some more spells and Skills; also I'm reorganizing the Skills by Intelligence requirement. I had them in alphabetical order by Skill name; now they're organized by Minimum Intelligence, though they're alphabetical within each category.

Two more spells

I have added two more spells tonight: Detect Life and Darkness.

I am pushing to get at least some useful work done on the game every day, one paragraph at minimum but as much as I can do. I don't anticipate it taking more than another week or two (these could be famous last words, but I don't think so).

Skills and spells

Last night I put up a few low INT spells, just so there'd be some spells there. Which means I need to get a bunch of magic rules in there that are related to them.

The spells turned out to be a lot easier than the Skills; the Skills seem to be more work than I had initially thought, and there are more of them. I'm still not sure I'm not going to pull out the "pure RP" ones and leave them for the "W&W Expert" doc.

Read this first!

I changed the URL of the blog here. I don't know what I was thinking.

Anyway, I'm working on a new project: Warrior & Wizard. It's a retro-clone of a small combat-and-roleplaying game designed by Steve Jackson when he was working for another company. Since the project doesn't have a home page per se, I thought I'd repurpose this blog for it.

All of the posts earlier than this date are about an old game I was designing several years ago. They can be safely ignored.
